Microsoft is not Family Guy-Friendly

Computing giant Microsoft has withdrawn sponsorship of a spin-off TV show of the animated series Family Guy due to concerns of controversial material.

Microsoft was scheduled to sponsor a Family Guy presentation: Seth & Alex’s Almost Live Comedy Show.  This show was set to be a promotion for the arrival of Microsoft’s new operating system, Window 7.

The show contained material written by Family Guy creator, Seth McFarlane.

After a viewing of the program, Microsoft said that they felt the material was “unfit” to be used with the “Windows” brand.

Regardless of the controversy, the show will air on November 8, in the U.S.

November 8 is scheduled to be a special tribute night of sorts on the Fox Network honoring McFarlane, who portrays the voices of several Family Guy characters, including that of the Family Guy himself, Peter Griffin.

Microsoft officials decided against the show after watching the episode which included humor about deaf people, and incest.

Microsoft maintains that their objections were against the particular material and not with Fox or McFarlane, with they will continue to have a partnership with.  Just not with this program, Microsoft said.

The Fox TV Network has had no comment regarding the decision by Microsoft.
