Marie Osmond confirmed that her teenage son died Saturday.
Osmond released a statement confirming the death of her 18-year-old son and referred to it as a “tragic loss” that has beset her and her family. She did not confirm any further details on the incident.
According to reports of Entertainment Tonight, Osmond’s son Michael Blosil, jumped from a downtown apartment building in Los Angeles on Friday night which ultimately led to his death.
Authorities were seen responding on what seemed to be a suicide incident on the same area during the same time but the victim was not identified by Saturday.
The 52-year-old singer and actress said that her family was devastated by the death of Blosil and asked everyone to respect their privacy.
Reports surfaced that Blosil has left a note that tells about his depression that he seemed to have battled all his life. He was said to be treated in a rehabilitation facility in 2007 for unknown causes.
Michael is the second oldest of the five adopted children she had with ex-husband Brian Blosil, along with two biological children they both had. Osmond has one child with first husband Stephen Craig.
Osmond rose to fame in 1973 when in the age of 13, she sang the hit song “Paper Roses.” She later starred with her brother, Donny Osmond, in “Donny & Marie” during the late 1970s.
In 2007, she was one of the contestants in “Dancing with the Stars” where she fainted in what would become her last dance routine.
