China moves against online games

China is bracing for another battle against the Internet world. This time, the largest communist country is against online games. This was shown in a program that aired in China Central Television, a state channel.

The program featured a man accused of murdering people for online games. The program claimed that 80 percent of violent crimes happen because of the influence of online games. It also showed parents concerned about the hazards of social networking sites. The story of a teenage girl was also featured claiming that an online dancing game influenced her to have one-night stands.

China has a fought a long battle against Internet pornography. However, the government seems to link online gaming to the issue. China has a history of blocking websites they deem harmful. Early this year, an uproar emerged against blocking the popular Youtube. Some anti-communists see this as a move by Beijing to show that communism in China is stronger than ever.

Being the most populated country, China has the most Internet users in the world with over 330 million. Almost 210 million of those play online games.
