Nero will release a new version of SecurDisc, a technology that can protect stored data. The new Nero SecurDisc 2.0 can increase the chance of recovering files from damaged CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray discs.
The leading maker of media-burning software gives users of SecurDisc 2.0 improved authentication and security on data by enhanced password protection and digital signatures.
Nero made the announcement this week during the CEBIT technology trade held in Hannover, Germany.
Currently, SecurDisc is integrated into Nero 9. All the future products of Nero will incorporate the SecurDisc 2.0 in them.
SecurDisc 2.0 has redundancy and defect management features that provide protection from disc deterioration. It does not need any special hardware to operate.
The technology works by having a viewer app embedded into the media when played. The app then decrypts the contents of the discs when the correct password is entered.
